Pediatric Ibuprofen Dosing Chart

Dosing by Weight

Ibuprofen dose for children is 5 to 10 mg per kilogram of body weight per dose, every 6 to 8 hours as needed. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours.

Common OTC Products

Infants' Motrin (liquid): 50 mg per 1.25 mL
Children's Motrin (liquid): 100 mg per 5 mL
Children's Advil (liquid): 100 mg per 5 mL
Children's Advil (chewable): 50 mg per tablet

Contraindications

Do not give to infants under 6 months of age
Do not give during the third trimester of pregnancy
Use with caution in children with kidney problems, stomach ulcers, or bleeding disorders
Avoid with other NSAIDs or blood thinners
